ABOUT THIS SECTION
This Notepad section allows you to contact ALL classmates or a specified classmate. For example, you can send a Notepad message to a certain classmate whom you are trying to locate and request that person to send email directly to you (so you then can start direct email communication between the two of you). Or, perhaps you are coming a long distance to a class Reunion and need a ride or want riders to share gas costs. Writing your memoirs and need memoires/info from high school days? Want to advertise your newly published novel? Want to announce the arrival of a new grand-kid or great-grandkid? Need some special prayers for yourself or a loved one who is seriously ill? These and other appropriate "Notepad Messages" can be listed here.

How to list a Notepad Message:   This web page is not currently coded for your online data entry; instead, you must send details in an email to your webmaster (Marilyn Moir) who will enter your message in this Notepad section for you. As a "Message Sender," CLICK HERE to send email to Marilyn, with the (automatic) Subject line "Message for the BHS-57 Notepad section." Please be clear as to what your Notepad Message is to be. Remember to indicate the Notepad Message's intended recipient(s) - either "ALL classmates" or named classmate(s) in your email; if this is not done, "ALL classmates" will be used.

(If needed, Marilyn may edit your Notepad Message to fit space before putting it online, or she will put your details in a pop-up page for your more lengthy news.)

How to contact a Message Sender:   Each Notepad Message below has the Sender's name (listed under the "FROM" heading) which includes a link to the Sender's email address. When you use a provided link to a Sender's email address, the Subject "Your [date] BHS-57 Notepad Message" will automatically be entered for you; the message's date in the email's Subject header could be helpful to the receiver of your email.

The Notepad Messages (below) are listed in order of the LAST RECEIVED message shown first. Messages that are more than a few lines long are contained on a pop-up page. Also, to save space here, only the LATEST message for one person is noted below, and ALL the messages (that pertain to one subject) for one classmate (e.g., updates on the classmate's current health issues and responses by other classmates) are included on that person's pop-up page; for full details, please access that person's pop-up page by clicking the "pop-up" link for that person.

06-28-09 ALL classmates Dave Haan I've recently returned home from the hospital after a long health scare that cost me the amputation of yet another toe. My white cell count, which was up to 24,000 is now down to 11,750 which is still well above average. Now, as an out-patient with every-other-day visits to doctors' offices and the hospital, I'll continue having IV antibodic sessions for at least ten more days. I'd like to hear from classmates; use my link to send email. Dave.

12-29-07 ALL classmates John Burn
and
Janet Long Burn
Two classmates, John Burn and his wife, Janet Long Burn, are both now battling cancer and could use your prayers and well wishes.

Janet was diagnosed in late stage non-hodgkins lymphoma five years ago and has been undergoing trreatment ever since, with her remission periods getting shorter.

John, Janet's husband of 50 years, has recently had a return of cancer after he had prostate surgery for cancer about seven years ago. To complicate matters, John also struggles with diabetes.

Due to their health issues, the Burns were unable to attend the reunion. But they keep a positive attitude. They would appreciate hearing from classmate friends via email or letters (send email or see the 50th Memory Book for their postal address.)

06-11-07 ALL classmates Gary Caillier All news continues to be good. Kay has been going to rehab 6.5 hours daily where she works on cognitive therapy to regain her short term memory and problem solving skills as well as physical therapy to increase her stamina and upper body strength. The rehab team set her tentative release date as July 12th. Her primary doctor has started treatment on her high blood pressure (a condition that resulted from this incident). Her neurosurgeon will give her another CAT scan. In about 3 weeks she will have another angiogram to see if they can locate the source of the bleeding.

All in all, everything is going well, considering the circumstances. She comes home tired, but is able to see guests most evenings. Thanks for your prayers and support; I don't think we would have made it without you.

Note:   All earlier Notepad messages regarding Kay's health struggle are provided in Gary's pop-up.

02-16-07 ALL classmates Ray Denson I saw Jack Westford recently and he said his sister, Joanne Westford (class of 1958), has liver cancer. She is living in Bemuda Dunes CA and her email is joannewestfjord@yahoo.com. I'm sure Joanne would like to hear from her old BHS classmate friends.

Note:   The email address spelling is correct, as their original family name was "Westfjord."

02-16-07 ALL classmates Doug Hoff After returning to our home in Wellton AZ, I've received great support from physical therapy, friends, and my wonderful wife/partner, Lee. I'm doing well in all respects. My brother helped finish the house and move us in. By reunion time, my physical condition should be back to normal. Thanks for the many prayers, positive vibes and support and to those of you who wrote notes, called, or visited. It was greatly appreciated. Go Raiders! Doug.

Note:   All earlier Notepad messages regarding Doug's prostrate and lymphoma cancer are provided in Doug's pop-up.

02-16-07 ALL classmates Karen Knowles (Wife of classmate Terry Knowles). On Friday, Feb 9, Terry passed away in his sleep. Throughout his long ordeal, Terry valiantly fought his cancer, and he lived a year longer than he might have otherwise. It was a blessing when he went in his sleep, as he won't have further suffering.

Thank you all for sending us love and support.

You are invited to visit Terry's obit and enter comments into his Guest Book page available on the Register Guard newspaper's web site at www.registerguard.com. Once there, make your way down the list of links to "obituaries" and then down the page to Terry's info place.

(Also, see the Memorial section of this BHS=-57 web site for Terry's BHS-57 picture and info regarding his "Celebration of Life.")

Note:   All earlier Notepad messages regarding Terry's cancer are provided in Terry's pop-up.

02-10-07 ALL classmates Ann Trentwold Carlson My friend is doing research on the "Barber skirts" that were popular when we were in Jr. High and/or High School. If anyone has a "Barber skirt" story or picture to share, please contact me via email. Thank you.

12-13-06 ALL classmates Scott Hagen Scott writes that Joyce, his wife of 39 years, passed away on 12-10-06. She had been in decline for many years from the effects of brain cancer she suffered in 1989.

See details in Scott's pop-up.

09-29-06 ALL classmates Wini Breakey White On October 11th, my boyfriend and I are heading (from southern CA) east - mostly on US 40 (with some side trips along old 99) to Branson MO for an Elderhostel program. We will be in Branson from the 15th to the 23rd. Then, maybe we'll head north toward . . . (you want visitors?)

See more details in Wini's pop-up.

06-17-06 ALL classmates David Crook Two weeks ago, David had five-graft bypass surgery following a heart attack. At home five days later, he's had "incedible recovery without complications" and is doing great. Cheery "Hi ya" notes from classmates are appreciated.

05-03-06 ALL classmates Helen Brandt (Wife of classmate Garth Brandt) sent news that Garth passed away of cancer on April 29. Thanks go to all classmates who had sent prayers and well wishes for Garth; they were much appreciated.

Note: Garth's earlier Notepad notes were removed. Several photos taken throughout Garth's life are shown on Page 4 of the Photo Album section. It's a nice "memorial."

01-16-06 ALL classmates Marilyn Moir Coughran Today is the first day of the new Notepad section. Here's my message: I'll be at the 50th Reunion in August 2007. Will you? Be sure to say "Hi" to me there. (You'll find me near the Wall of Photos when you check into the BG&CC for the main event.)
