ABOUT THIS SECTION This "Photo Album 1" section contains photos submitted for sharing by BHS-57 classmates. After reviewing the photos in this (full) section, also see the Photo Album 2 section for more photos of BHS-57 classmates. Both these "photo album" sections show candid photos taken of BHS-57 classmates through the years. (Also, you will find photos in several other sections of this BHS-57 web site as you browse through them.) To submit photos for our web site, if you know how to make "small" (for example: about 3x5 or 4x6 inches - NOT 8x10) JPGs in 96 dpi (NOT 300 dpi), email them to Marilyn; this is the preferred method as it saves Marilyn much time and disk space. Otherwise, you can mail good photocopies (either color or black/white) or original snapshots. Unless you include SASE, the mailed photos will not be returned. Whether or not they are put on the web site (considering space and time considerations), they may be added to the "Wall of Photos" display for an upcoming reunion. Questions? For more information on making JPGs or sending your photos, please send email to Marilyn. |

Clues: He was six years old in this picture, taken in 1945. He attended Lowell Elementary, then Fairhaven Junior High before BHS. This picture was in the Bellingham Herald in 1999. He was the Chairman of the BHS-57 40th Class Reunion in 1997. His initials are GV. (Uh-h-h. I made that too easy.)
P.S. GV said he had on his sailer suit to fake out the bartenders and that he's been cute all his life. |

Ouch. This head-on collision between our classmate's 1955 convertible (left) and a 1954 two-door sedan (right), was pictured in the Bellingham Herald in 1959. The crash caused our classmate some nose, mouth, and leg injuries. Do you recognize our classmate standing by his car? It's Norman George.
(Remember those wide whitewall tires of the 1950s?) |

Here is GV all grown up, standing at the corner of Railroad Avenue and Magnolia Street. As a boy, he had worked at the Stop and Shop formerly located at that corner which had been next to the teenage hangout, The Cone. GV said Bellingham was a wonderful place to grow up. (I agree!)

This group of "city slicker" cowhands are at Dave Lundy and Lynn Seelye's River Bend Cattle Ranch in Fort Benson, Montana. They include (from left to right) Mike Allen, Garey Vodopich, Jake Smith, Joe Tieman, Jack Corning, John Tiscornia, Lynn Seelye, and Merwyn Murk.

Each year, Lynn invited a group of these city slickers up to the ranch to participate in the annual spring round-up. They rounded up the cattle on horseback in the lowland. Their other activities included vaccinating, tagging, branding, de-horning, and castrating cattle. They did it all. Garey, born in Montana, enjoyed this so much he started going to the fall round-up also. This entailed going up into the high country and bringing the cattle down to the lower meadows for the winter. "What a hoot!" Garey says. "A good time was always had by all." |

Here's Bernie Caufman with his "best buddy" neighbor, Sandy Lundgren, looking like they're ready for a dip in the pool, or maybe to run through the lawn sprinkler.

Whatcom Junior High - Miss Koppang's Grade 7.4 in 1952. Dig those saddle shoes. Who's the lucky girl wearing the Barber skirt? Remember those hand-woven skirts? You had to go out to the Lummi Reservation to buy one, and each one was different. Can you recognize anyone? Included in this picture are Jacqueline Elmore, Jeanette Frostad, Micky Coffell, Charles Feathers, Ron Fletcher, Sharon Chervenock, Ron Cowin, Ray Denson, Buck Edwards, Gary Dickerson, Bob Ekdahl, Tom Durham, Kent Cronkhite, Marie Churney, and Judy Dexter. Can anyone identify the others? (Thanks to Ray Denson for sending in this picture and most of the names.)

Bellingham High School's Class of 1957 at their 10th reunion at the Leopold Hotel in 1967. Looks like a formal affair. (Isn't it nice to finally be "casual comfy" at reunions now?) Remember that floor? (Thanks to Ray Denson for sending in this picture.)
