INTRODUCTION TO THIS SECTION This section describes our (UPCOMING OR MOST RECENT) DALLAS BRANCH SPECIAL EVENT and archives some previous Dallas Branch special events. Special events do not often occur. For example, a Dallas Branch special event may occur only once or twice a year - or once every two years; some years may have no special events. Some events (such as Art Shows) are repeated in subsequent years, while other events may be one-of-a-kind. It is partly the rarity of these events that makes them "special" events. Not every special event is recorded in our web site's EVENTS ARCHIVES (see below). However, the events described here show our long-distance members (as well as our potential members) the variety of special events our Branch members and invited guests have enjoyed. Note: Aside from the Branch's special events, news of individual Branch members' special events may be found under the appropriate ART, WRITING, or MUSIC section of this web site; this news helps you know a bit more about the individual members' current or more recent creative works. JPG photos taken at Special Events (or meetings, etc.) should be emailed to the Webmaster in 72 dpi (okay), 96 dpi (preferred), or 150 dpi (absolute maximum dpi) with a file size not larger than about 100 KB. (File size and dpi are NOT the same thing, You can see each file's size when you list your files in a folder "by name" - showing full file "details" - not showing file icons). EVENTS ARCHIVE: To review news and photos of special events, use the date links below: 2006: JULY 2006 - PLEIN AIR PAINTING; TRIP TO ANGEL FIRE, NM 2007: NOV 2007 - LETTERS CONTEST (PROSE & POETRY) 2008: MAR 2008 - DALLAS BRANCH ART & LETTERS SHOW NEXT UPCOMING EVENT: "EXPRESSIONS" (A JURIED REGIONAL ART SHOW) The Dallas Branch NLAPW will host a Juried Regional Art Show at the Dallas Public Library from November 1, 2008 until December 6, 2008. The show theme is "Expressions" and the work must have been completed within the last three years. Space is limited. For full details (dates, times, address, entry fees, media limitations, and other restrictions), please download, print, and complete the Expressions Info Form (a PDF file). [See NOTE below.] NOTE: Whomever designed this form made it just a tiny bit too wide for some printers to print without losing a bit of text off the right side. To avoid that problem, when the form shows on your screen, before you give the command to actually print the paper, look for the (print command's) checkbox that says something like "Reduce to fit paper size" and click that checkbox. It will reduce the image very slightly to fit on your paper. Then, print the paper. It will look nice. A separate PDF file with six Art ID Forms is available for you to download, print and use; you'll need two Art ID forms for each art entry (as explained on the Expressions Info Form). [See NOTE above.] After reviewing the forms, if you have any questions, call our President, Kay Wyne at 214-349-1605. |
