INTRODUCTION TO THE DALLAS BRANCH OF NLAPW
The women of the Dallas Branch of The National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) are proud that their branch is one of the oldest NLAPW branches in the country and that it is the oldest NLAPW branch in Texas. Founded in 1922, the Dallas Branch holds Charter # 22.

This web site is about the Dallas Branch of NLAPW. To read about the interesting history of NLAPW which was formed over 100 years ago in 1897 and about the National NLAPW headquarters located in Washington D.C., click the NLAPW link in the red column at the left. (That page also includes a link to the National NLAPW web site.)

PURPOSE OF NLAPW
Aside from enjoying companionship at meetings and sharing inspiration with professional women in the arts (journalists and other writers, artists, and musicians and composers, photographers, sculptors, etc.), one of the main purposes of NLAPW branches is to encourage other women to enter the arts fields. Like many other NLAPW branches, the Dallas Branch occasionally holds special events, such as writers contests or art shows, to raise funds which may provide scholarships to local young women who plan to continue their study of the arts in upper education classes.

WHO MAY JOIN THE DALLAS BRANCH?
Professional women in the arts who live in or near the Dallas TX area are invited to attend a Dallas Branch meeting or two as a guest and, if they meet the national NLAPW membership requirements, they are welcome to join the Dallas Branch as a member. Students who are actively working toward a profession in the arts may qualify for "Associate" membership and attend meetings as a "permanent" guest until their professional status is obtained, making them eligible for NLAPW membership.
