ABOUT THIS SECTION
This section can help current Dallas Branch members get to know each other better - especially when we have some "long distance" Branch members who moved away from Dallas and rarely (if ever) get to attend Branch meetings. It will also let potential new members (women who are also professional artists, writers, or musicians) know something about the wonderfully talented Dallas Branch NLAPW women, in the hope that viewers who meet NLAPW membership requirements will want to join the Dallas Branch.

Thanks go to those several members who have already sent their photos and basic profile information (and "more info" if given) for the web site. To complete this section, other members should send their "Profile" (and/or their "More Info") information via email or postal mail to the Branch Webmaster, Marilyn Coughran. (See basic "Profile" and "More Info" suggestions here)
Please get your "starter" info shown; remember, it can always be changed or added to later.
Also, please either mail a NON-RETURNABLE snapshot (a good color Xerox copy will suffice) or email a JPEG (.jpg file) of a face photo of yourself to replace your "placeholder" (the cartoon of a lady checking her "TO DO" list) shown below. Like your Profile information, your photo also can be changed later, if you want. (See JPEG info here)
Creation of this web site began in late 2005. Information on members who were previously included on this page who are now deceased or who have transferred to another Branch has been removed from this page (but not from other pages of this web site where those members may have been mentioned). We will remember them always. For a list of deceased or transferred members, click the MEMORIAL link here or at the bottom of this page.

All current Dallas Branch NLAPW members are listed below in alphabetic order with the NLAPW-awarded (A) for artists, (L) for writers, or (M) for musicians noted after their names. When complete, this section will include a face photo of each member and provide her basic NLAPW membership information, such as when she joined the Dallas Branch (or earlier branches) and NLAPW offices she held. MARILYN COUGHRAN (L) - WRITER
WEBMASTER
Marilyn joined the Palomar Branch (CA) of NLAPW in 1979. There, she served two terms as Branch President and served as Vice President of the CA (S) state organization. She transferred her NLAPW membership to the Dallas Branch after she moved from CA to TX in early 1989. She served two terms as Dallas Branch President before moving to WA state in March 1996. Marilyn maintains her Dallas branch membership as a long-distance member who has moved often (first to WA, then to CO, and then to her current home in AZ. She enjoys writing novels as well as creating art, jewelry, and web sites.
Marilyn says, "The best thing about NLAPW is the chance to meet and share ideas with other professional creative women."

CAROLYN FRENZEL (A) - ARTIST
TREASURER, MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN, ART CHAIRMAN
Carolyn joined the Dallas Branch of NLAPW in 1983. She lives in Mabank Texas (which is about an hour southeast of Dallas where she'd spent her life until her move to "the country.") Carolyn was Branch President for several terms, and held other positions over the years. As Art Chairman, she helped organize many Dallas Branch art competitions, usually inviting non-members (often potential members) to participate. The last several exhibits, titled "Creative Pursuit," proved very successful. The Dallas Branch members are some of Carolyn's favorite friends, and she is willing to help the Branch in any capacity possible. Carolyn says, "It's great to associate with professional women in the arts."

KAREN WEICHMANN (A) - ARTIST
PRESIDENT
Karen joined the Memphis TN Branch of NLAPW in 1998 where she was the Branch Historian. Karen has visited the National headquarters located in Washington D.C. She transferred her NLAPW membership to the Dallas Branch in 2004. Since 2000, her artwork (watercolor, oil, and printmaking media) has placed in the top four places in every regional show competition that she entered in Mineola, Terrell, Dallas and Greenville. Her art studio was featured in the R.S.V.P. magazine, and her work was accepted into the National Plano Art Centre Show in 2005. She has had numerous one-woman shows and has given demos at festivals and on local TV stations. Karen has also plein-aire painted in Sedona, AZ.
Karen loves meeting other artists in NLAPW as well as songwriters and poets. She says, "NLAPW nurtures creativity!"

MARY JANE WILSON (L) - WRITER
RECORDING SECRETARY
Mary Jane joined the Dallas Branch of NLAPW in 1996. She lives in Dallas and has hosted many Dallas Branch meetings at her comfortable and artistic home, She has held the office of Dallas Branch Recording Secretary, and has offered to help in other capacities when needed. Her vivacious personality and her many friends and acquaintances who work in writing, research, and film industries are great assets to the Dallas Branch.

KAY WYNE (A) - ARTIST
Kay joined the Dallas Branch of NLAPW in November 2007. She has lived in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas with her family for twenty years. Kay's interest in art has led her to develop her own distinctive style of imagery found in oil paintings.
